RiderTua.com – MG Motor has presented three environmentally friendly cars in Indonesia, consisting of two BEV models and one HEV model. Because all the models are SUVs, they presented the Maxus 9 electric MPV, previously known as the Maxus Mifa 9. Unlike the ZS EV and 4 EV, MG Motor still hasn’t sold it until now. In fact, orders haven’t even been opened yet.
MG Motor has Not Yet Sold the Maxus 9 in Indonesia
Of the several models it sells in Indonesia, MG Motor presents four environmentally friendly cars. Three of them are SUVs, namely the ZS EV, 4 EV, and VS HEV which was just released a few months ago. Then another model is the Maxus 9, which was introduced more than a year ago as the Maxus Mifa 9.
However, now the Maxus 9 is sold under the MG Motor brand and was introduced last February when IIMS 2024 was held. This premium class MPV model has appeared again at electric vehicle exhibitions, but as before, MG is still not selling it. Even though the premium car market is wide open for them to start selling, because so far there has been no luxury MPV that is an electric car.
Wait for the Right Time
MG Motor seems to be still waiting for the right time to sell the Maxus 9, even though there is a big opportunity in the market. Of course, this also includes deciding the right price for this model, considering that the model is imported directly from abroad. Usually for a model like this, the Maxus 9 could be sold for more than IDR 2 billion, or less.
Talking about luxury MPVs, this market has only been filled by two models from Toyota, namely the Alphard and Vellfire, even though both of them only use hybrid engines. This clearly opens up opportunities for other manufacturers to release BEV models in this segment, one of which is MG Motor with its Maxus 9.
