RiderTua.com – The closer the announcement regarding the new MotoGP regulations gets, the more open the debate about future technology becomes. Fabio Di Giannantonio firmly rejects most of the new ideas intended to ‘castrate’ technology in MotoGP.

As a typical representative of the new generation of racers, the VR46 racer expressed his impressions of the current MotoGP prototype. According to Diggia’s point of view, there is nothing better for a MotoGP racer than today. He would never voluntarily say goodbye to today’s modern machines. He honestly said that MotoGP motorbikes must be pure prototypes. Everything must be possible. For him MotoGP is the maximum expression of all technical arts, said Diggia.

In a few days there will be official clarity regarding the future MotoGP technology rules that have long been negotiated at the Motorcycle Grand Prix Commission. The proposed changes received widespread support in the paddock, but were also discussed controversially in some cases.

Almost no dissent was heard about the likely limitation of engine capacity from 1000cc to just 850 cc. There is agreement among MotoGP teams that a performance reduction of around 15 percent is normal. In practice, its implementation means a reduction in maximum engine power from the current around 300 hp to around 250 hp at peak.

But in fact, peak performance is currently only released for a small part of the acceleration phase at full load through sophisticated electronic engine control. Outstanding peak performance only comes into play on the specified performance track.

In the future there will be a ban on several electronic aids, especially ride height devices, which are much more controversial. The same applies to significant limitations in aerodynamic assemblies. This is not only very complex and requires large costs to develop, but also requires an increase in cornering speed, thereby creating a risk of falls.

Legendary MotoGP riders have largely welcomed the proposed measures. Recently KTM test rider Dani Pedrosa said that he supports the removal of these elements. In accordance with the philosophy of ‘return to origins…’ the 38 year old legend wants racers to be more focused.

On the other hand, Fabio Di Giannantonio has a very different opinion. The Italian rider, who recently became the fastest rider in the Jerez test, is firm in his belief. Diggia explained that he was very enthusiastic when standing in front of his motorbike and dealing with technology. Very powerful and incredible power, all the functions and electronic devices and all the possibilities.

“I like it and I think that’s how MotoGP should be. This is Formula 1 on two wheels,” emphasized the Pertamina Enduro VR46 rider.

Even though his assessment was quite good, the 25 year old racer admitted, “I admit, this technology also has weaknesses and we have to be careful so that racing doesn’t experience bad impacts. One of the impacts is that overtaking motorbikes becomes increasingly difficult. But still as a motorbike racer This, I never expected anything different. Never!”
