RiderTua.com – BYD started sales of its electric cars in Indonesia several months ago. It’s just that the models sold here are still imported directly from abroad. But BYD already has plans to build a car production factory in Indonesia, located in Subang, West Java. After completion of construction, production will certainly start in 2026.
BYD will Start Construction of its Car Production Factory
The three electric cars sold by BYD in Indonesia, namely Atto 3, Dolphin and Seal, are all imported directly from abroad. Indeed, because they are new here, they are temporarily importing their cars in CBU form. But in the future they will build a factory, so that their superior BEV model can be assembled locally.
Of course BYD doesn’t just want to sell cars, but also builds an electric car production center here. Because Indonesia is seen as the right location to expand its sales network in the Asia Pacific region. At the same time it can reach countries like Australia with more products it offers.

Starting Operations in 2026
To start construction, BYD prepared funds of IDR 16.2 trillion and the location is in Subang, West Java. It might sound quite odd, because usually car production factories are always based in Cikarang, but it’s clear they have their own reasons why they prefer Subang. This factory will be located on an area of more than 108 hectares.
BYD will not only set up a factory to help sell its cars locally, but also export them abroad. Apart from that, they can expand the electric car market by producing a number of cars, although only a few have been sold here. But who knows, in the future they will present other newest BEV cars in Indonesia, even after the factory is completed and operational starting in 2026.
