Chery has Other Environmentally Friendly Cars Besides BEV
Environmentally friendly cars sold in Indonesia are increasingly varied and have many models. Of the several types available, Chery chose to present an electric car first, considering that the market is starting to grow rapidly. This is proven by the Omoda E5, which has ordered more than 3 thousand units since it was first launched two months ago.
Despite the success of its electric car, Chery is starting to think about selling other types of environmentally friendly cars, namely hybrid or HEV and plug-in hybrid (PHEV). They themselves are planning to present a PHEV model via Jaecoo, although when the model will be released is still not certain. In fact, it’s not only Chery that wants to sell hybrid cars, other car brands also want to do the same thing.
Waiting for Hybrid Car Incentives
It’s just that they are still waiting for the right time to launch it in Indonesia. What they are waiting for are special incentives for hybrid cars, both regular hybrid and PHEV models, which should be implemented this year. However, that has not yet happened, instead there is an opinion that hybrid cars and the like do not need incentives or subsidies like electric cars, because the cars still produce emissions.
Maybe Chery and other brands will have to wait longer until a decision is made to establish special subsidies or incentives for hybrid cars. For now they rely on existing models. Including increasing the level of domestic component content in the Omoda E5.
