RiderTua.com – Daihatsu is one of the automotive brands in Indonesia that has not sold a single environmentally friendly car. Neither hybrid nor electric cars have been presented, although they have shown them on one occasion. Daihatsu admitted that they were still looking for the right time to release it. Moreover, the electric car market has not yet reached first-time buyer type consumers.
Daihatsu Hasn’t Presented a Single Environmentally Friendly Car
In fact, Daihatsu has several environmentally friendly cars that it sells abroad. One of them is the Rocky Hybrid which he introduced at an automotive exhibition in Indonesia several years ago. They have even displayed several concept electric cars such as the Ayla EV which was in the spotlight.
Now the electric car market is filled with many models from various brands, from Toyota, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, BYD, to Wuling and Hyundai. Of course, there are those who sell it at affordable prices, such as Wuling which presents the Air EV for less than IDR 300 million. Moreover, locally assembled BEV cars will receive incentives, although only a few models have received them.

Electric Car Education Still Not Maximum
It’s just that there isn’t a single model that can attract the attention of many first-time buyer type consumers, namely consumers who are buying a car for the first time. Daihatsu said that this happened because there was a lack of optimal education about electric cars to the public. Even with infrastructure support that continues to be improved, if these factors are not developed then sales cannot be maximized.
This is one of the reasons why Daihatsu does not want to rush into selling its environmentally friendly cars in Indonesia. Although this doesn’t mean they just sit around waiting for the right time to sell their car. They have prepared a strategy for car electrification in Indonesia for the next few years, including studying the market further.
