Car Sales Experience Slowdown in Q1 2024
From January to March, car sales in Indonesia reached 215,069 units. Indeed, this is a good result, but when compared with last year in the same period, the results decreased quite drastically. Because in the first quarter of 2023 alone sales could reach 282,601 units.
Even though the sales gap is quite small, the difference is clearly visible, and this raises a number of questions about what is actually happening in the market. If you pay attention, the worst conditions occurred in February, where sales experienced a drastic decline from January. Although results improved in March, it alone was not enough to increase sales any further.
Market Conditions Have Not Recovered
Apart from the decline in conditions in the domestic car market, influence from abroad is also another cause, especially due to inflation in the United States. Last February the IIMS 2024 automotive exhibition was held, and a number of manufacturers can usually rely on this exhibition to increase their sales. It’s just that the results were only visible a month later, in March to be precise.
Maybe currently car manufacturers are still having difficulty increasing their sales, even for Toyota and Daihatsu. Although at least the results obtained have been able to provide the best results this year. Not to mention that sales in April have started to show positive results.
