RiderTua.com – City cars still have many fans in Indonesia amidst the busy SUV market. Although there are now only five models remaining and sold so far, with two of them being Suzuki products. Recently, Suzuki increased the price of its city car to IDR 1 million. Meanwhile, the three competitors are still selling at the previous price.
Suzuki City Car Experiences Price Increase of Up to IDR 1 Million
As previously explained, Suzuki has increased the prices of the city cars it sells in Indonesia, namely the Ignis and S-Presso. Even though the price increase is only IDR 1 million, the price difference is quite different. The S-Presso, which was originally priced at IDR 168.3 million and IDR 178.3 million, has now increased to IDR 169.1 million and IDR 179.1 million, while the Ignis has increased from IDR 212-224 million to IDR 213.8-225.8 million. million.
However, this increase in city car prices only applies to Suzuki cars, while other models are still selling at their old prices. In the city car segment, apart from Suzuki, there are Toyota, Daihatsu and Honda which sell similar models. However, the models sold by Toyota and Honda are city car versions of the LCGC model.

Still Competing Tightly
So far, Honda still holds quite strong dominance in the city car segment with the Brio RS. Toyota should be able to catch up by relying on the Agya GR Sport, but that alone is not enough, in fact its sales are still not ahead of the LCGC version. Meanwhile, the same thing was also experienced by the Daihatsu Sirion as well as the Suzuki Ignis and S-Presso, all three of which happened to be models imported from abroad.
Maybe a model like the Brio RS can still be superior to its competitors in the city car segment, but not in the LCGC segment. Still, Honda relies on it as a contributor to its car sales in Indonesia until now. Moreover, demand is still quite high, so they will continue to provide this model even with tight competition.
