RiderTua.com – In July, GAC Aion will be present for the first time in Indonesia to enliven the BEV market. There will be two models on sale, namely the Aion Y Plus and Hyper HT, and both are SUVs. Although the GAC Aion Hyper HT actually has gullwing style doors which differentiate it from other SUV models. So many call it the main competitor for Tesla.
GAC Aion will Bring Two BEV SUV Models
Even though it is known for its SUV models, GAC Aion also sells other types of models such as sedans and sportscars. Still, SUVs are much sought after by consumers around the world, even though they have only sold four models. One of them is the Hyper HT, an SUV that some might suspect is a variant of the Hyper GT sedan and Hyper SSR sportscar.
Unlike SUV models in general, the Hyper HT has gullwing style doors. Not many SUVs have this type of door, except for products from Tesla which have been quite popular in the market for the last few years. With the arrival of the Hyper HT last year, this model became an equal opponent for Tesla.
Assembled Locally
Hyper HT relies on an electric motor with power of 250 kW and 430 Nm of torque, and acceleration from 0-100 km/h in 5.8 seconds. There are three battery options with a range of 550 km, 670 km and 750 km. Even though it comes as an SUV, GAC Aion designed it to be similar to a fastback model, resulting in a car with a modern design and optimal performance.
It doesn’t stop there, Hyper HT is also equipped with a number of advanced features such as radar and LIDAR cameras, as well as an entertainment system for the car head unit. Maybe for a car like this the selling price will be quite expensive. But if the model can be assembled locally, then the price can be more affordable.
GAC Aion has the opportunity to precede Tesla in presenting the gullwing SUV in Indonesia. Meanwhile, Tesla itself has not yet decided when they will be here.
