Small Market Volume
Indomobil Group sees that Tesla is having difficulty selling its cars in Indonesia due to a number of factors, such as the fairly small BEV market volume. If you look at it, sales of electric cars are still far less than conventional cars, even hybrid cars. Besides, if they want to sell it at a more affordable price, they have to assemble it locally, including the battery.
Of course, this is not an easy matter to do, especially with the electric car market not yet fully developed. Meanwhile, Tesla itself is still looking for other countries around the Southeast Asia region for the potential to build an electric car factory. Thailand was always considered the right choice to start with, although Malaysia and Singapore were also other target markets.
