RiderTua.com – Since Citroen arrived in Indonesia, they have sold four of their flagship SUVs here. It’s just that all models are still imported from abroad, even though the selling price is still affordable for imported cars. Citroen is now ready to start local car production starting in early July this year. However, it is not yet clear what models it will assemble, as well as its production capacity.
Citroen Ready to Assemble Its Cars Locally
The fairly rapid development of the four-wheeled market in Indonesia has convinced Citroen to return here. They brought four of their flagship cars, consisting of the C3 and C5 Aircross, as well as the e-C3 and e-C4. Although all the models are still imported from abroad, especially the e-C3 which is imported directly in CBU form from India.
Since the beginning, Citroen has had plans to assemble its models in Indonesia to reduce imports. Now they have confirmed they will start production in early July 2024, with trial production to take place in June. They have to go through four stages before starting, and this is done every month until the time comes.

ICE or BEV Model?
It’s just that the details regarding the model that Citroen will produce are still a mystery. Whether it is a conventional car (ICE) or an electric car, the e-C3 is imported directly from India. Apart from the model that will be assembled is not yet known, the production capacity has also not been determined.
But at least Citroen can assemble its cars locally using the car assembly facilities of the Indomobil Group, which holds the French brand in Indonesia. Reception of the car since it was first launched has also been quite good, with several hundreds of units having been ordered.
With this, Citroen becomes the next brand to assemble its cars in Indonesia. Several other brands that are relatively new here have also started production, or are currently in production preparations.
