RiderTua.com – The personal relationship between Marc Marquez and Pecco Bagnaia was in the spotlight after the clash at the Portuguese GP. Although the maneuver carried out by the Ducati Lenovo rider to overtake the newcomer to the Gresini team resulted in contact, both of them fell from the bike and it was declared a racing incident. However, this has led to debate regarding where the error lies and what impact it has.
Marc’s joining the red team squad where Pecco is the star and defending champion, adds intrigue to their incident.
Marc Marquez’s relationship with Pecco Bagnaia is fine
When Marc Marquez was asked, did Pecco Bagnaia’s feelings become bad or did Pecco’s attitude become different after the incident? Marc said that this was normal, because it was impossible to reach an agreement between two drivers just 1 hour after the incident. But Marc has a good relationship with Bagnaia. No problem. He knows what he’s doing. He knew what he did wrong. And Marc accepts that this can happen in racing, answered the former Repsol Honda rider.

When Pecco Bagnaia was asked the question whether the clash would have an impact on his relationship with Marquez. The VR46 student rider emphasized, “No. Unfortunately, that is something that can happen.”
However, like it or not, the incident will always be remembered by both of them as they try to build a challenge this season. And this will make Ducati think about how to manage this situation, and the impact it may have on whether they want Marquez as Bagnaia’s teammate next year.
Davide Tardozzi (Ducati team manager) accompanied Marquez and Bagnaia to Race Direction where the collision was declared a racing incident.
Bagnaia revealed what they said in the private trial. He explained that of course they both preferred no penalty. But they are two different people with different mentalities. So, the point of view is certainly different.
On the other hand Marquez explained that when Race Direction came to him, he said that it was on the red line, they had to decide.
Then Pecco explained his attempt to carry out an overtaking maneuver on the inside of Marquez. “When Marc arrived, he overtook me. I tried to go over the limit. He tried to close the racing line, and we collided. Unfortunately it ended with zero points. In the next race we have to get up to reduce the distance,” said the rider from Turin, Italy.
Marquez actually blamed Bagnaia. “Of course, this can happen in races. But I didn’t expect Pecco’s mistake in this race because we were fighting for 5th place. In the end, it was only for 2 points more or 2 points less. We both ended up in the gravel ,” said Baby Alien annoyed.
According to Marc this is something that could really influence them at the end of the championship. Pecco will suffer in the end, Marc also suffered in the beginning. “I overtook him. We know that when we have difficulty, sooner or later after three or four laps, other riders will catch up with us. We have to accept this. He came back optimistic and we ended up in the gravel,” concluded Marc Marquez.
