RiderTua.com – Jorge Martin managed to race perfectly at the Portuguese GP. Starting from the front row, the Pramac Ducati rider did not hesitate to go straight to the pole. He emphasized that the foundation for success had been laid from the start. “I really wanted to go all out from the start and then see that I could share the performance as planned as early as possible. It worked out really well. The start was really good and I quickly got a bit ahead. So I was able to manage the race pretty well.” said the 26 year old rider.
Previously, Martin had difficulties at the Algarve circuit. ” We noticed that once I started riding fast here, things immediately became difficult with the medium tyre. The racing line was good. Controlling the speed and the gap was never convincing. My head was very dizzy today. From the start I told myself that I wanted to win today and I’m very happy that it worked,” explained teammate Franco Morbidelli.

This victory has its own meaning for the rider who is now at the top of the standings. Jorge Martin revealed that today’s win was very important for him. Where according to him he had experienced many negative things at Portimao. “I am very sad about the crash which caused 9 broken bones in 2021. And now standing here as a winner means a lot to me,” said the rider from Madrid, Spain.
Finishing 3rd in the sprint and winning the main race, Martin managed to collect so many points that he left Portugal as leader of the standings and 18 points ahead of Brad Binder who was ranked 2nd.
