RiderTua.com – Suzuki has long been known for its passenger car products which are quite popular in Indonesia. Especially environmentally friendly cars in the form of mild hybrids which have been the flagship so far, from the XL7 to the Ertiga, are selling well. Even so, Suzuki has no plans to introduce this variant on its pickup cars. Especially presenting the electrified version.
Suzuki Has No Plans to Present an Environmentally Friendly Pickup
The commercial vehicle market, especially commercial cars in Indonesia, actually has a big opportunity to be entered by the electrification model. Moreover, Isuzu has introduced a number of electric-powered trucks here, although they cannot be sold in the near future. But this has provided good potential for other producers to catch up.
Meanwhile, the commercial pickup car segment is still led by Suzuki and Daihatsu, but there is no indication either of them will present an environmentally friendly version. Suzuki itself said that the pickup car market in Indonesia still hasn’t received demand from consumers for BEV pickup cars. Even if there is, it will be quite difficult to develop it.

Commercial Vehicles
Suzuki explained that both passenger and commercial cars cannot get the same electric drive. This is clear because commercial vehicles are more intended for transporting goods, while passenger cars are more for the use of private vehicles or fleets. Of course, the electric drive used must be adjusted first before it can be applied to commercial cars, including pickups.
Then they explained that even if electric pickups were still made, most of their users would be consumers who lived in urban areas. This kind of model is not suitable for taking to rural areas or other remote areas. So petrol engine pickups are still needed in the market.
But it is possible that other manufacturers will develop models like this. Not to mention Isuzu which has introduced its BEV model.
