Jack Miller: You Can’t Complain About the Weather. You Have to Make the Best of the Conditions

RiderTua.com – When desert sand meets rain, the MotoGP track at the Lusail Qatar circuit turns into a muddy motocross track. Jack Miller said, “The feel on the bike is good, even in ‘strange’ conditions like these. Someone should take back his words that ‘it will never rain in Qatar! Call MotoGP and the track will be wet!’ No, seriously. The first session in the morning was dry and everything was as expected. That’s OK for tomorrow.”

But Miller took something very positive from the rain-soaked training session. “It’s no secret that we worked on new electronics over the winter. Today we got the unexpected opportunity to try it in the wet and see how it works. This was one of the things I didn’t like about my bike last year. I wasn’t happy at all with that, especially at the start of the season. Now we have done that in Qatar and know that this is better than before,” said the Red Bull KTM rider.

Jack Miller was not surprised that despite the changeable weather, none of his comrades fell. “All the riders are in a good mood, even in a situation like this,” he said.

Miller described a mixture of desert sand and rain as mud. This only becomes a problem for him when he has to follow other racers. “The spray was terrible. The bike was really dirty afterward! During the rain, it was just a rain-soaked race track. But when the rain subsided and a dry track formed, the track surface was very slippery but fun!” said teammate Brad Binder with a smile.

Regarding Saturday’s schedule changes, Miller said, “For me, FP2 in the rain should count. What does that mean? We are racers and our job is to go as fast as we can, whatever the conditions. We can’t cry when it rains, wind or whatever. But make the most of the conditions and see who is the fastest, how fast are all the riders.”

For all his colleagues who think such conditions are not normal, the 29 year old rider emphasized, “In that case, they should replace the cool colored visor with a clear one. I can see exactly, where the track is muddy or wet, there is no problem at all!”
