Ducati ‘Used Bikes’? But ‘Used Champion Bikes’ Are Still Very Competitive

RiderTua.com –  In MotoGP Ducati is the manufacturer with the most teams and the best bikes on the track, why do they have the most? It is the ‘free market’ that allows Ducati to have 8 bikes on the grid. In the era of the ‘free market’ teams and riders can decide which manufacturer to go to. “At Ducati we are in a position to supply eight bikes, we have done it before ,” said the Ducati team manager.

Ducati’s ‘Used Bike’ is Still Competitive..!

Marc Marquez – Pecco Bagnaia

Ducati’s sporting director said competing with four teams (eight bikes) was not ideal conditions in the medium to long term, because it would open up the possibility of two satellite team bikes being excluded from the red team’s squad. The problem that arises if there are too many teams is: Are they well equipped after winning the world title? Maybe Ducati doesn’t need as many riders anymore after they can become world champion. It would be burdensome and expensive to equip so many teams.

One of the effects of the large number of teams at Ducati (8 bikes) is that it may be difficult for them to provide an official spec bike for the second or third team. The choice is last year’s ‘used bike’, but in some cases the old bike (GP23) is actually a perfect bike. In fact, with this bike they can become world champions (Pecco – Lenovo) and team (Pramac). So even though they are said to be used bikes, they are champion bikes. It’s different if what is used is not ‘a former champion bike’ but ‘a bike that has been in a crash’…

Meanwhile the GP24 bike is the newest bike with less data. Their weakness is in the first half of the season and if they find a good package then in the second half they will excel. This is why it is important for riders with old spec bikes (GP23) to immediately ‘push’ in the first half of the season, because they have the opportunity to collect as many points as possible. Moreover, Ducati is allowed to share data with all its riders. It just depends on whether the rider is able to adapt quickly, for example his racing style must change completely, because if the rider and his bike don’t match, it will take a long time for them to fail… that is the fate of each rider…
