Ducati Factory Team? Marc Marquez Will Not Be in a Rush

RiderTua.com – Previously Davide Tardozzi (Ducati Lenovo team manager) stated that it was possible that Marc Marquez could occupy the second seat in the factory team with Pecco Bagnaia. How does the 8-time world champion respond to Tardozzi’s statement?

Marquez replied that the situation was completely different from before. In December he signed a contract for one year and at the moment he is in no rush. He just wants to concentrate on himself and do his best on the track. He knew that if he could enjoy racing and be fast, then he would have more possibilities to choose a seat.

Marc Marquez added, “But until now I don’t want to talk. I want to concentrate on myself, focus on Qatar, focus on Portimao, some races will be better, some will be worse and I will try to perform 100 percent. I know that in this sport, the most important thing is the present not the past. The present because there are 2, 3, 4 riders who are faster than me.”

Pecco Bagnaia – Marc Marquez

Marquez, who twice finished in the top 5 on his Ducati debut in Qatar, is one of the riders who stands out as he looks to be on par with the likes of Pecco Bagnaia and Martinator.

Which one did Marquez choose? Would you rather have the pressure of being on a factory team or would you prefer to have a fully factory bike in Gresini? With a smile Baby Alien answered, “I will not answer both questions. I concentrate on myself and do my best on the race track and this way I will have more opportunities.”

According to Marquez, the pressure is the same because riders are happy if they can climb the podium. Teams are happy if they can get on the podium and that is their team’s target. Being on the podium is better than the top 5 and winning the race is better than the podium. “At the end of the day, having a good, relaxed atmosphere doesn’t mean having no pressure or ambition.”

The ambitions of the satellite teams are also the same as the factory teams because they are here fighting to get the best results. “But it is true that there are fewer people in the team and it is more like a family. At the Repsol Honda team the atmosphere is really positive but the culture is different between Japan, Italy, Spain and America. The atmosphere is good if the results are good,” added Marquez.

At the Qatar GP, Marc Marquez was involved in an exciting battle against the sensational rookie Pedro Acosta who seems destined to become a great rider in MotoGP, something that Marquez has been and has been doing for a long time. In the end, Marquez won the duel because Acosta’s rear tire was worn out. However, the 31 year old rider hopes that in the future Acosta can appear consistently at the front row of MotoGP.

“I already said it last year and I confirmed it again after Qatar that he will be one of the future and current MotoGP riders. Because as he showed in Qatar, he has enough talent. When we are very talented, we will be fast with this type of bike whatever. He was very fast on those laps and I’m sure he has learned how to manage the tires. I’m sure he will be much better in the next race,” concluded Marc Marquez.
