Now Beating Ducati and Bagnaia Will Be More Difficult, but Why?

RiderTua.com – RiderTua.com – Why will beating Ducati and Bagnaia now be more difficult? MotoGP legend Giacomo Agostini explains why.. Finally this Sunday we will arrive at the week that will hold the first race of the 2024 season, the Qatar Grand Prix. There is great curiosity to see what will happen on the track at Lusail, where recent tests confirmed that Ducati is the strongest. The new Desmosedici GP24 is a step forward compared to the GP23 and Pecco Bagnaia immediately felt an extraordinary sensation with it. He starts the season as the favourite.. not only as the defending champion which means he is the rider to beat, but also based on what he showed in the winter tests, he is the fastest.

Now beating Ducati and Bagnaia will be more difficult, but why?

Will Ducati often clean the podium this year? It might happen, but it can’t be guaranteed. Aprilia performed strongly in the last test and KTM has not shown its maximum potential. Yamaha and Honda will most likely not be involved, but with concessions there will be at least sporadic ups and downs in performance. Talking about Ducati riders, there is clearly interest in finding out what Marc Marquez can do on his debut with the Desmosedici GP23 motorbike for the Gresini team.

Pecco Bagnaia – Giacomo Agostini – MotoGP

This is Giacomo Agostini’s opinion

Giacomo Agostini will as usual follow the progress of the 2024 MotoGP season, but with great attention, where he predicts Ducati’s supremacy and great difficulties for its competitors. “This new model (GP24) is far superior to last year’s model (GP23). A big step, it will be more difficult to fight for podiums, wins and ultimately the title,” he told Corriere della Sera media…

Agostini, who is a fifteen-time world champion, believes that it will be difficult for rival manufacturers to fight both in every race and for the world title. The Borgo Panigale manufacturer has raised the bar again and winning it will not be easy for Aprilia, KTM, Yamaha and Honda. Ago has no doubts that the rider is the favorite to win the title. “I put Bagnaia in pole position, he is a two-time world champion and he is doing well. Then Martin is right behind. So Bastianini, a real talent who will be able to revive himself. I will continue with Di Giannantonio and Bezzecchi (as the next favourites),” he added.

Speaking about Bagnaia, the MotoGP legend sees him as stronger than ever, based on the titles he has won and more, so it will be even more difficult for his opponents to beat him. “He has everything to prove himself. He is better, concrete, serious and professional. He has gained experience and solidity, he is probably in the best moment of his career and he showed it in the tests. He worked hard for many days on the bike and only at the last minute succeeded. He gave the push to bring everyone up to par. Amazing. …”

Agostini saw that Pecco was ready for everything, between Sepang and Lusail he showed that he was fine in all aspects, even if it was time to get serious then he had to prove it himself. The Qatar race is coming up and he will certainly look to reassert his leadership, although he is aware that the season is still long and there is no point in taking avoidable risks. What happened in previous championships, with the many accidents, is certainly a lesson.
