RiderTua.com – Rumors circulating in the Spanish GP paddock remain on the fate of several satellite teams. As is known, Yamaha is trying hard to find a second team to accompany their factory team so as to add the M1 bike to the MotoGP grid for the 2025 season. And the Gresini, VR46 and Pramac teams, aka the trio of Ducati satellite teams, have all been linked to the manufacturer from Iwata, Japan.
Neil Hodgson said the issues changed from day to day and depended on who one spoke to in the paddock. The hunch is there will be another Yamaha team… and that makes sense, says Neil Hodgson .
Yamaha Will Have a Satellite Team in 2025, Who Says?
On the other hand, Sylvain Guintoli revealed that there is talk about Pramac going to Yamaha… according to him this really depends on who gets the two Ducati factory spec bikes. If VR46 gets two Ducati bikes, Pramac will not continue its collaboration. They will not accept used bikes from previous years.
Sylvain Guintoli says he thinks it makes sense for the VR46 to get a factory-spec bike. With the quality of the team and how good they have been in the last 1 year, maybe it is something that could happen..maybe. But Guintoli knows that there will only be 4 factory spec Ducati bikes so they can’t be on Pramac and VR46, added Guintoli.
The Pramac and VR46 teams’ contracts with Ducati both expire this year and they are currently in talks regarding their future. VR46 has reportedly rejected Yamaha’s offer, even though there is a mutual relationship with boss Valentino Rossi.
Meanwhile, Paolo Campinoti’s satellite team currently has an option in the Ducati deal to stay for another 2 years with factory specification machines but to date there has been no confirmation. There are rumors that the Pramac team could choose a possible investment with Yamaha, rather than remaining with the Ducati factory.
Gresini’s contract with Ducati is for another year, but at Jerez surprisingly the satellite team owned by the late Fausto Gresini was linked with Yamaha.
Lin Jarvis (Yamaha team manager) is adamant that they will successfully catch the second team in 2025.
