RiderTua.com – Enea Bastianini was unable to show his best performance in the sprint race, he hopes to bounce back in the next race, but will the Ducati team find a solution?
The 2020 Moto2 champion emphasized that the situation on the Lusail International Circuit track was different compared to the one encountered two weeks ago. “Compared to the test, the conditions have changed.. the grip is very different. In the past we had problems in 1-2 corners, in the race even happened in a few more corners. Especially at the fast point it was difficult to control, towards the end the drop was quite significant. For a long race we have to find something to be able to finish it well…”
Bastianini, Martin and Pecco have the same bike problem
Bastianini has in the past stood out for his ability to manage his tyres, a quality that helped him produce a truly brilliant race in the second half. Can he use this weapon this year? “Hopefully (good at managing the tyres), it depends… It’s the first long race for everyone and there are always some unknowns, but let’s say I’ve always been good at managing the tyres. Sprints are always special, we have to immediately give everything without being too “think about saving tyres. Long races will be different, but we’ll see if we can continue to attack.”
Unforeseen problems arose on the 2024 version of the Ducati Desmosedici (GP24) in Qatar, but Bastianini is confident that he can identify a solution that will allow him to ride without these problems… “It’s a new bike, we haven’t done a few kilometers on it yet. Maybe It’s useful to look at the GP23 data to see if Marquez and Bezzecchi are having the same problems that Pecco, Jorge and I are having. “Being a little more detached, alone, I can do it; however when I’m close to other people, I struggle a bit. However, I think it’s something we can fix easily.”
After the Sprint, Pecco Bagnaia also admitted that he was optimistic in this regard, saying that he and the team had already thought about changes that could bring improvements. And after the race it was proven that only Pecco had found the solution… Martin and Bastianini didn’t feel good…
