RiderTua.com – The 3rd MotoGP series which will be held on 5-7 April in Las Termas Argentina has been officially cancelled. According to Pol Espargaro, who incidentally is Marc Marquez’s former teammate, this brings benefits to the rider nicknamed Baby Alien.
When Pol was asked, could Marquez compete for the title this year? The KTM test rider and reserve rider answered, “Yes, I see it as a possibility. Most importantly, it will depend on what he does in the first race or what his rivals do in the first race.”

Pol Espargaro continued, “If we don’t lag far enough in the first race until we reach the race in Europe which is the most complicated race, we can manage to compete with the fastest. “And if they don’t leave Marc too far behind in this first race, I think the second half of the season is the time when Marquez can improve his performance. He has accumulated more experience with his bike. Of course he can become champion because he has extraordinary talent and “The Ducati GP23 is a competitive bike used to win World Championships. There’s no doubt about that,” said Pol.
After a promising pre-season test (finished 4th in the Qatar test), Marquez’s first race with Ducati will be the season opener in Qatar on March 8. The former Repsol Honda rider will ride the Ducati GP23 that his rival Pecco Bagnaia used to win the world title and Jorge Martin was runner up.
Regarding the Ducati, the bike that has dominated the season that Marquez will now ride, according to Pol, this will be interesting. “Yes, there are a lot of good things combined. The stability is high, maybe a little difficult when cornering, but the aerodynamic problems make up for it. They were the first to create an efficient racing world where everyone focuses and works,” said Carlota Bertran’s husband.
Pol Espargaro added, “Therefore, they have an advantage over other factories. Currently, aerodynamic issues are something that all manufacturers are trying to work on to develop their bikes and Ducati is number one in the competition. They know very well what they have to touch when they appear problem. I think that’s the key to their advantage and what differentiates them from other factories.”
