RiderTua.com – While teammate Maverick Vinales dominated the Americas GP, Aleix Espargaro finished 7th after contact occurred at the start of the race. With Vinales’ victory in the sprint and main race, this shows the progress of the Aprilia RS-GP in recent years.
Aleix Espargaro, who managed to achieve 3 wins for Aprilia, also played an important role in the success of the Italian manufacturer from Noale. “The bike works well and Maverick has proven it. I’m happy for him and the team, they deserve it. I think this will be an extraordinary year for Aprilia, where we will have fun,” said the 34 year old rider who lives in Andorra.
Aleix Espargaro himself struggled in the 20 lap race at COTA. The reason is, initially he was far behind from 7th position on the grid. He missed out because of a struggle for position on the first lap and contact occurred, in the end he was only in 14th position after the first lap. Without this incident, his speed would have been good enough to finish in the top 5, emphasized Laura Montero’s husband.
In the end, Pol Espargaro’s older brother (KTM test rider) crossed the finish line in 7th place and after finishing 5a in the sprint, he ended the weekend in America with a solid finish.
However, later the oldest driver on the track admitted that he was not competitive enough. Even so, he was satisfied with the results. In the overall standings, Aleix is currently in 7th place.
