Marc Marquez: Pecco Would Be Smarter if He Didn’t Do That Maneuver

RiderTua.com – While Pecco Bagnaia looked dissatisfied and just sat silently in his pit, on the other hand, Marc Marquez’s mood was not bad at all. The Gresini rider spoke about the incident that caused him and Pecco to end the race early. “If I draw a conclusion, it’s a positive race. The most important thing for me is that we ensure our speed here,” he said.

However, the duel between Marc Marquez and Pecco Bagnaia in the third to last lap of course became a hot topic of conversation. How is Marc’s condition after the crash? “The most important thing is that we are fine. My left shoulder felt like it was touching the bike, but there’s nothing that worries me. The collision with Pecco was not good, but I can see Pecco’s mistake here,” said the rider nicknamed Baby Alien.

Then Marc Marquez continued, “But I don’t mean the behavior on the bike. Contact is always possible in a situation like this. But I think the fault is in the decision. I mean, we are competing for 5th place, that’s about 1 or 2 points “Pecco struggled more, especially on the rear tire. And now the consequence is zero points for both of us.”

Even though Marquez did not say it bluntly, the message was clear that in his eyes it would have been smarter if Pecco had not carried out this maneuver.

During the weekend race at the Algarve circuit, Marquez experienced four crashes. But he responded to this in a relaxed manner. The 31-year-old rider revealed that the first crash during training occurred because he had a slight error in electronic coordination and it was not dangerous. Likewise in qualifications, due to lack of experience. With a few more kilometers he could avoid it. Marquez also fell during warm-up. On the second lap his racing shoes even came off and he lost control. Of course it wasn’t great, but it was nothing to worry Marc about.

Regarding the strong performance of sensational rookie Pedro Acosta, Marc said, “Most importantly, it was a pleasure to ride behind him. He behaved like a beginner, worked very hard with the tires and the wheels. He was very fast. There is no doubt he will achieve more podiums and victory this year. Maybe, he can even compete for the world title.”

In Saturday’s sprint race, Marc Marquez (finished 2nd) managed to beat Jorge Martin (finished 3rd). It is clear that this will definitely continue to inspire the 6-time MotoGP world champion. Until the second series of the 2024 season, the adaptation process for the former Repsol Honda rider was going well. However, it cannot be denied that Marc Marquez will occasionally return to his famously aggressive racing maneuvers after the second series this year.
