Marco Bezzecchi : Portimao is Complicated, Demanding but Fun

RiderTua.com – After really struggling in the opening race of the MotoGP season in Qatar, Marco Bezzecchi heads into the second series at Portimao in the hope of at least reducing his misery when entering the corners. The Pertamina Enduro VR46 rider slipped to the bottom of the rankings of Ducati riders by scoring only 2 points in Qatar, finishing 11th in the sprint and 14th in the main race respectively.

At least last year Bezzecchi has fond memories of Portimao where the student rider of Valentino Rossi finished 3rd in the main race. He said that the Portimao track was truly one of the most beautiful tracks on the MotoGP calendar. It’s complicated and physically demanding, but at the same time a lot of fun. “The goal is to get closer to the fastest group and have fun on this unique track,” said the rider from Rimini, Italy.

Currently Marco Bezzecchi is ranked 14th in the standings. “A very difficult weekend for me. Hopefully in Portimao we can find a better base from Friday. I’m trying to look at the data, understand why I lost some speed. The problem is that at the moment I can’t do what the GP23 riders do others,” explained the 26 year old rider.

Bez said he did not have the confidence to brake on the front of the bike. “The bike didn’t corner perfectly and because of that I lost cornering speed. So I opened the throttle too late, or entered the corner too slowly. Because otherwise, the bike wouldn’t spin,” concluded Vito Bezzecchi’s son.
